- Start preparing at least 2 to 3 months leading up your trip and do more outdoor cardiovascular exercises such as running, cycling and mountain biking.
- Engage in cardiovascular sports at least twice a week, for at least 2 hours per session.
- Hiking hills or walking up and down flights of stairs as part of your training regime.
- Read the trip descriptions and itinerary carefully to find out what else is involved, so you can tailor your preparation accordingly.
MANY PEOPLE UNDERESTIMATE THE INTENSITY AND DIFFICULTY OF HIKING MOUNT KINABALU. EVEN IF THEY HAVE VAST EXPERIENCE HIKING IN THE EUROPEAN / NEW ZEALAND ALPS, ANDES, HIMALAYAS OR THE AMERICAN ROCKIES, THEY HAVE REPORTED THAT HIKING MOUNT KINABALU IS AKINED TO SQUEEZING 5 DAYS OF HIKING IN ANY OF THE GREAT MOUNTAIN RANGES INTO JUST 38 HOURS!
